Heartbroken Michael, 37 – CEO of Southampton-based Trimline – had been married Claire for six years but they broke up earlier this year.
Tragic Bethan’s aunt Lindsay, 35, told The Sun: “It is obviously a devastating time for everyone.
“That’s really all I can say.
“As her father, Michael is devastated and is on his way to the family home.
“It’s such a tragic event.” Michael’s parents Ian, 66 and Susan, 56 were too distraught to speak last night.
One shocked neighbour said: “I cannot believe what has happened.
“Claire and Michael were nice people, and they had a lovely little girl called Bethan.
“We went there at Christmas for a few drinks. They were very nice to us.”
A mum who went to a baby group with Claire and Bethan and her tot said: “She is a lovely woman.
“I started going just before her little girl left.
“But I ride my bike past their house a lot and if I ever see her she always says ‘hello’ to me.”
Another neighbour, 69, said: “I’m shocked.
“Claire seemed like a nice mum, who was very good with her daughter.
“I never thought there was anything wrong, but you don’t know what goes on behind closed doors.
“She was a nice looking woman and they seemed like a normal family.”
