Hooked to your computer while at work? There are chances of you developing Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS), a condition that could lead to dysfunctional tear glands, reveals a study conducted by ophthalmologists at a city-based hospital.
The study conducted by Dr Agarwal’s Eye Hospital revealed 50%-60% of the individuals who took part in the survey suffered from Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), a leading cause of dry eye syndrome, where the tiny glands in the eyes that produce tears fail to function. MGD is believed to be present in 20% of the general population. The people surveyed were in the 22-40 age group.
Some 800 working professionals, mostly techies, who are exposed to computers for over six hours a day for five days a week, were observed for 12 months.
